U.S.’ Military Assistance: The Cases of Afghanistan and Ukraine

The Assistant Editor of Insight Turkey and Researcher of SETA Foundation, Gloria Shkurti Özdemir, attended Strait Talk program which appears in the TRT World screen, to talk about the Pentagon Report’s statement on United States 7 billion dollars’ worth of military equipment left in Afghanistan last year. At the same time U.S. decision to send 40 billion dollars aid to Ukraine was discussed.
Shkurti Özdemir mentioned that how the U.S. assistance has increased Ukraine resilience in its war against Russia. She also underlined, that everything depends on the way how Ukraine is going to make use of these weapons.
Also, Shkurti Özdemir highlights that in many cases the U.S weapons have ended on the wrong hands like al-Qaeda. But in Ukraine, the case is different she mentioned, and she added that there is no such similar scenario possibility in the close future for Ukraine.
Lastly, Shkurti Özdemir remarks that in the close future, any U.S. president’s losing the interest possibility on Ukraine is very low according to the incidents lately because of Russia is one of the main threats for U.S., and even its strategy is focused on its war or how to contain Russia and China.
