Enes Bayraklı, during an interview for TRT World, commented on voting of German MPs, according to whom Turkey committed genocide against Armenians. Bayraklı called this resolution as a one sided understanding and reading of the history as it focuses only on the Christian minorities. Moreover, the resolution ignores the fact that during the last years of the Ottoman Emipre, not only Christians, but Muslims –such as those living in the Balkans and the Caucasus- were also target of the ethnic cleansing and genocide.
Calling this vote as politically motivated, Enes Bayraklı asserted that the decision whether there has been a genocide or not, remains within the power of the criminal court, not that of the parliament. Nevertheless, Bayraklı emphasized that Turkey is willing to discuss the issue and open the archives. In this regard, not only does the resolution negatively impact the relations between Turkey and Germany but it also encourages Armenia to deny any possible discussion with Turkey.
