In August 2020 the Republic of Turkey announced the biggest discovery of natural gas in the Black Sea in its history. This announcement moved Turkey into the spotlight of the international community. It is believed that this discovery will provide Turkey an optionality in the field of energy and will enable Turkey to be less depending on other countries of its neighbourhood like on Russia.
The web-panel titled “Ramifications of Turkey’s Gas Discovery in the Black Sea” will be moderated by the SETA Brussels coordinator Dr. Enes Bayraklı. The panelists include the Senior Analyst on the Rystad Energy Global E&P team Aditya Saraswast, Energy Advisor for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey Caner Can and Political Economy and Economic Security expert Dr. M. Levent Yılmaz. During the web-panel the panellists will give an overview and outlook about the natural gas discovery of Turkey. They will speak about the geopolitical, economical and political ramifications of this discovery in Turkey and beyond.
